Formal Introduction - Hi!!!

been lurking here for yyyyyeeeeears, but was too busy with school, jw life and other interests.

now that i'm done with education for the time being anyway, plus the jw life is under pretty good control, i can spend some time and throw my views here and there in some attractive topics.. born-in, and deeply indoctrinated, but with life experience came better comprehension of my lot in life and have come to accept that, just like the family one is born into, jws are my family, friends, my ultimate and overall identity.

a jw is what i am; like the song 'hotel california', and like so many on this board, check out anytime you'd like but one could never leave.. remember like it was yesterday the failed 'the wolf is coming' calls of 1975, mid-80s, late 90's, y2k, 2004 or so, and same will be with the latest effort to get people overly excited about 'the end'.

What I mean by 'like-minded JWs' are the ones that treat the Org as a whole with respect, definitely, but with a few reservations; like a food buffet of sorts, where one may enjoy most dishes but not every single one individually. Can't really explain if education plays into it, or perhaps the fact that many JWs have become callous due to all the failed 'The End' is near calls. It's complicated.

It's very surprising to observe many 'younger' JWs beginning to treat the Org as just 'a religion' and not follow it blindly as previous generations, or even take it into account at every single step in life. This way is most comfortable for many of us inside, and as I've gauged it lately, it's the way will continue as the younger generation continues to take over.

Changes constantly; can't hardly wait 'til they knock off the Friday from the big annual convention, also that they lower the pioneering hours even more. Lately I'm seeing a more relaxed outlook on college education as the admin. realizes is now a necesity to be better educated than just High School. Love it!

Remember like it was yesterday the failed 'the wolf is coming' calls of 1975, mid-80s, late 90's, Y2K, 2004 or so, and same will be with the latest effort to get people overly excited about 'The End'. History served me right in the way that I started and finished my college education in spite of silly comments, etc., by other JW peers; hung in there with my eyes on the prize 'til I achieved the goal. Now I have a pretty good gig and the younger generation and their parents ask every now and then how can they get to where I am and, of course, I happily fill them in.

During my college bit I saw the need to skip some Spanish meetings and catch them in the English side and, oh brother, JWs Spanish as opposed to English ones are like day and night! The Spanish JWs are so much more happier, friendlier, gregarious, loving, closer, a party or gathering going on all the time type of people; it's like a completely different faith! You wouldn't catch me in an English congregation unless I really/absolutely needed to be there. Lord! The English congregation is soooooooo cold, distant, aloof, robotic, uninterested, weddings in the morning so there's no dancing type of folks. No wonder so many on this board can't stand it!

I've pretty good bearings within the Org now, and have found a nice click within of like-minded JWs; life is alright. However, just like the Org itself, subject to evolve at any given time.

I hear it but I can't believe it

my elder friend told me that his kh is in need of upgrading their electronic system so that they can be ready for the big zone meeting in november and they need the flat screen televisions mounted to also enjoy all future special meetings put on by the branch.

the branch has given them the exact specifications and he mentioned the branch wants to use apple products.

they passed a resolution for a one time donation by the publishers to pay for the $6,000.00 system.

Hi SG,

Like the topic; to see the Org moving ahead and keeping up with the advancement of technology in this 'online/wireless/connected/techie' generation is quite a breath of fresh air for us better educated/younger types inside. I notice that all advancement towards technology is very well received. The crowds are evolving right along with the flow, and it's overall good.

Hating on tech advancement will only hold a person back in all fields. Tech is now the norm everywhere one goes that's worth it, and it can only move forward speedily still.

Give me a reason not to go back

been out now for 10 yrs but life is a mess.

starting to think its because i have no spiritual compass.

why shouldn't i consider going back?.

At significant risk of seeming like the worst troll, I must say the following:

10 years out and still can't pull it together? WOW! Please don't go back for the wrong reasons; get the help you precise and make a good life for yourself. I mean, you had excellent reasons to leave it all behind 10 years ago, right? Have those reasons changed/evolved?

I can only imagine you going back and fitting the bill of so many I already see inside the congregations; the ones that for some psychological reason or such cannot get their act together, people that BUY their own problems at any cost, and then they start pushing fault onto the Org/elders, etc. and becoming a heavy burden on everyone. So many inside the congs already, really there's no need for more.

Continue seeking the happiness you left for 10 years ago.

Be truthful and respectful; also keep in mind that in our current imperfect humanity, every single thing evolves. In our religion, as in many others alike, all evolution has been towards what's best at the time in history. Will you stop using technology/medicine/etc. because of its obscure beginnings?

Even the statement of who really had the right recipe was presented in a question: Who is the approved servant? (Matt. 24:45) So many faiths are striving to be this servant, and in the end only Jehovah and Jesus will select.

So, make your decision privately and move forward. Use your intelligence, but above all, find well-being and happiness with the JWs or elsewhere.
